Beginner Beach break Sand bottom Peels both 0.5–2 m Any tide

Ghana's most established surf beach and the cradle of Ghanaian surfing: a sheltered crescent of sand near Dixcove with gentle, sand-bottom peaks suited to learners and intermediates, backed by a small resort village. It is in the rain shadow of the south-west monsoon swell train, so it is never huge, but it is consistent, warm and very beginner-friendly — the base of the surf-school circuit on the Ghanaian coast.
