America's premier big wave venue. Mavericks breaks half a mile offshore in the frigid, shark-infested waters of Northern California. The wave can reach 60+ feet and breaks over a jagged, boiler-studded reef. Made famous by the late Jeff Clark who surfed it alone for 15 years, it now attracts the world's best big wave surfers. Cold water, powerful currents, and great white sharks add to the challenge.
