A mutant shorebreak wave created by the Newport Harbor jetty. Incoming swells refract off the rock wall and collide with waves from the beach, creating explosive, unpredictable wedging peaks. The wave breaks in just a few feet of water and has caused countless injuries. Primarily a bodyboarding and bodysurfing wave, though experienced surfers attempt it on solid south swells.
