Costa da Caparica

Fifteen kilometres of south-facing sand immediately across the Tagus from Lisbon, broken up by a series of groynes that build and hold sandbars. Each groyne makes its own peak, so the crowd spreads out and there is nearly always somewhere with a rideable wave. It is smaller and softer than the exposed coast to the north, which makes it the default learners' beach for half of Lisbon — and a decent short-period wave hunt when everywhere else is too big.
