County Clare's main surf beach: a long, crescent-shaped sand beach facing the Atlantic, with shifting peaks along its length that suit everything from beginner whitewater to punchy walls on a good bank. It is sheltered from the worst of the south-westerlies by the headland, so it is more manageable than the exposed reef spots up the coast, and it is the centre of surfing on the west coast of Ireland with several surf schools.
