Zarautz

Also known as Zarautz beach, Playa de Zarautz

Intermediate Beach break Sand bottom Peels both 0.6–3 m Any tide

A long, wide, exposed beach break that picks up more Atlantic swell than almost anywhere on the Basque coast. It breaks on shifting sandbanks along a 2 km stretch, offering both lefts and rights and a range of peaks from beginner-friendly to punchy. The town fronts the beach, so it is the most accessible surf in the area and the base for a big surf-school scene.
